Billing:
United Nations University bills you for tuition, fees, and other charges at the beginning of each term.
Statement updates by Email:
Upon the release of a new billing statement, an email notification is sent to the student’s UNU University email account and any Authorized Payers. New billing statements are generated when there is recent activity on the account since the last statement, when the account has a credit balance (overpayment), or when the account has a charge balance.
The UNU does not mail paper bills.
Tuition & Fees:
In addition to examining the official tuition and fees, it could be valuable for you to estimate your anticipated expenses. Your total cost of attendance might encompass items like books, supplies, and housing. For further details on these costs, please get in touch with your university’s financial aid office.
Scholarships:
Scholarships can be granted based on academic or athletic ability, a particular field of interest, or involvement in volunteer activities. Additionally, some scholarships may be awarded based on affiliation with a specific ethnic or religious group. Companies may also provide scholarships for you or your child.
Grants:
The majority of grants are need-based, implying that they are typically awarded depending on your or your family’s financial situation. Need-based aid is financial assistance available to you if you demonstrate financial need and fulfill other eligibility requirements. The amount of need-based aid you receive cannot exceed your financial need.
University-Based Aid:
Institutional aid or university-based aid pertains to assistance overseen and granted by United Nations University either centrally or independently. This form of aid typically comes in the shape of grants provided to students to offset a portion of their cost of attendance.
For more information about scholarships, grants and university-based aid, please contact your financial aid office.
About Student Loans:
Obtaining funds from a bank, government, or lending institution is known as securing a loan. A loan necessitates repayment, along with an additional fee known as interest. The federal government provides students with financial need low-interest loans, while other lenders may impose higher interest rates.
Eligibility for education loans from private sources is contingent on applicants showcasing responsible debt management. In contrast to many federally sponsored loans, which either have no credit requirements or minimal criteria, private lenders conduct thorough reviews of credit history to assess eligibility for their loan programs.
Federal Loans:
Government-made federal student loans come with terms and conditions established by law, incorporating numerous benefits, such as fixed interest rates and income-driven repayment plans, which are generally not provided by private loans.
Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Loans: For graduate students.
Direct PLUS Loan: For graduate students or parents who are credit-worthy.
Student Loan Repayment:
For many students, completing their education doesn’t signify the end of financial obligations. A considerable number of graduates carry student loans and find themselves entering into monthly repayment, which may extend over several years, depending on the loan terms.
It is crucial for graduating students to be well-informed about the specifics of their loans and to understand the available options for managing repayment. Refer to the sections below for more information.
Private Loans:
Private student loans, also referred to as alternative education loans, serve to fill the financial gap between the actual cost of your education and the limited amount permitted by government programs.
In cases where federal loans prove insufficient or more flexible repayment options are required, some families resort to private education loans. Nevertheless, given that federal education loans may present lower costs and/or more favorable terms compared to private student loans, it is advisable to explore your eligibility for federal student loans thoroughly before considering private student loans.
Many students opt for private education loans to fund their studies, making it essential to gather comprehensive information before initiating the application process.
