Before you apply for admission to the MBA Program at UNU, you’ll need to make sure you meet certain criteria.
MBA Prerequisites for Admission
To be considered for admission to the MBA Program, you must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited US college or university or its equivalent in another country.
You also need to submit your scores on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE). Our MBA requirements do not require a minimum GMAT or GRE score for any applicant to be considered for admission. We also accept the GMAT Focus Edition and shortened GRE.
All international students whose native language is not English must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). We also accept the enhanced TOEFL iBT.
This requirement can be waived if you:
- Earned an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction.
- OR are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language

As an international student, you’ll follow the same application process as US-based students, with a few additional things to note.
When to Apply
We recommend that international students apply in earlier rounds; however, there is sufficient time for students to apply for and secure a visa in all rounds.
Academic Requirements
International applicants must have a college or university degree equivalent to a four-year American baccalaureate degree. In light of the Bologna Accord, UNU also accepts candidates with three-year international degrees. To document your degree, you will need to submit official academic records or a scanned transcript.
English Language Exams
If English is not your native language, you’ll need to submit proof of English proficiency by taking one of the following exams:
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- The academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE)
- Duolingo English Test
This requirement can be waived if you earned an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction, or if you are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language.

Master of Science – (MS)

The Master of Science (MS) program is intended for people who wish to broaden and deepen their understanding of Computer Science. United Nations University and the Spokane environment provide excellent career opportunities in multiple industries.
The program provides a unique opportunity to develop leading-edge in-depth knowledge of specific computer science disciplines. The department currently offers concentration tracks covering five such disciplines.
Research
MS students are encouraged to participate in state-of-the-art research with our research groups and labs, diving into cutting-edge projects across various areas of computer science and technology.

Master of Science in Computers Admission Requirements
UNU offers a wide range of practical and innovative graduate programs that respond to market demands for new technology and media skills. Applications for graduate programs are accepted on a rolling basis, but exact deadlines—and any additional required admission materials—please contact Graduate Admission Office.
Domestic applications take approximately one month to process while international applications take a minimum of three months.
Each student will be assigned a faculty advisor who will assist throughout the program to determine the best course of study.
- Minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- Bachelor’s degree awarded from a regionally accredited institution.
- Test of English Proficiency (for international students).
- Submission of admission materials.
- Successful completion of Calculus 1 and 2 (MS Artificial Intelligence).
- Completion of Calculus I and Calculus II with at least a B- average. Exceptions may be made for individuals with extensive work experience in analytics (Data Science).
UNU welcomes MS in Computing applicants from around the globe.
A graduate applicant is a student who has completed at least a bachelor’s degree or an equivalent higher education degree, and is interested in applying for a master’s. You are considered an international graduate applicant if you have earned a bachelor’s degree outside of the U.S.
Applicants with international university credit (regardless of the amount of credit earned or grades) are required to submit a course-by-course evaluation. As part of the application review process, United Nations University conducts a free course-by-course transcript evaluation for coursework completed outside of the U.S. These evaluations can be used for UNU admission purposes only. If you would like to take advantage of this service, you will need to upload complete academic documents for all post-secondary levels of study at the time of application. These should be in original language with English translation (as needed). If you choose to “opt out” of UNU’s credential evaluation, you will need to provide your own course-by-course credential evaluation from one of the companies listed on the Transcript Evaluation page.
