Following the submission of your application, it undergoes a review process by the admission committee of your graduate program. Certain programs may include interviews as a component of their assessment procedures.

Upon completion of the evaluation by the admission committee, your graduate program will inform you of the admission decision.

Upon receiving an admission offer, it is essential to adhere to the specified deadline and acknowledge your acceptance. Certain programs may organize “visit days” to assist you in making a well-informed decision.

Verification
Upon accepting the admission offer, it is necessary to coordinate the submission of your official transcripts and degree certificates to Graduate Admissions for the purpose of verification.

Eligibility
To qualify for admission to graduate programs at United Nations University, you must satisfy the university’s minimum standards for academic qualifications and English language proficiency.
Minimum Education Requirements
You are required to possess, or anticipate obtaining before enrolling at UNU, a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing
UNU evaluates a post-secondary degree by considering factors such as the attributes of a national educational system, the nature of the institution attended, and the academic level achieved.
English Proficiency
All international students whose native language is not English must take either the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the academic version of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or the Pearson Test of English (PTE). We also accept the enhanced TOEFL iBT.
This requirement can be waived if you:
- Earned an undergraduate degree or postgraduate degree from an institution in which English is the language of instruction
- OR are a citizen or permanent resident of a country where English is an official language
Minimum TOEFL Requirements
- TOEFL Paper Based Test: 550
- TOEFL Internet Based Test: 79
- IELTS Exam: 6.5
- PET Academic: 70
Applicants who score below the minimum may still apply, but admission is contingent upon demonstrated English proficiency during the admissions interview if the candidate is invited to interview, or upon other language requirements.
